This social will be at the same time and place, 8pm in CBA0.013.
The social theme will be tarot reading so bring a deck of your own if you have one and any you don't mind letting other people use plus any books you have on the subject. You don't have to take part in any of this, you can just come along to watch, to socialise, or to learn.
Hope to see many of you there!

Oooh, sounds awesome. I'll try dig out one of my decks, though my reading skills as such are rather poor - terrible memory in most cases, hah.

I'll try and join you, but Friday's are inconvenient for me due to various other commitments. I'm presumably in the minority as far as that is concerned though, and as I don't use the tarot I might not make this one.

I'm looking forward to learning a lot on Friday as my Tarot skills aren't awesome, it's not really something I use often so have never really learned to recognise the meanings.

Tarot works best as an intiatory system, rather than LOL I CAN TELL THE FUTURE.
I'd advise anyone interested to check out the original Waite deck and Waite's own literature. Tarot is not a new age novelty, it's origins and meanings are far more important than the common conception of it.

Oh, that I know. Trying to get a 'mundane' reading out of my fave deck will only result in an epically nonsensical lulzfest. But I always like to see what people's reactions to the artwork/symbolism in it are - many find it very beautiful but just as many find it 'creepy'. Sadly I do not have a Waite deck (it never much appealed to me) and have only read snippets of Waite's work. But I've battled my way through the Book of Thoth to know enough to 'get' the systems and symbols of Tarot.

I'd definitly be very interested in discussing the Thoth deck. It's been on my to-do list for ages, but i've never gotten round to checking it out. I dunno if i'm going to be there tonight though.

Yep, I tend if i give basic readings to not say "Oooh I can read your future" as I cant, just give support if you understand me. I really want the Haindl set: www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/haindl/ as i've wanted them for ages, having worked with them once, and they were perfect. also the meanings and the interpretations I get from these come far easier and less strained then my other deck or any others.

Well, when/if you want a gander at it, just let me know. I'd be happy to bring it to KUPOS for you,or elsewhere, and to have a chat.
