Out of interest? I'll leave my own reasons 'till later.
what drew you to it? What drew you to your particular path? What made you go from being interested in the subject to actual practical workings?

An incurable and perhaps dangerous fascination with the unknown, and a nagging feeling that, with magic at least, fantasy - though grossly exaggerated - has a firm basis in little-known fact and sound philosophy. As for going from mere interest to actual practice - i have to admit i've done precious little of that recently. Time and space requirements, and an annoyingly skeptical housemate mean im quite restricted in what i can actually *do*, beyond such ubiquitous exercises as meditation, the kabbalistic cross/lbrp (on the rare occasions that im alone and undisturbed), and theory.

I remember my initial interest sparked from my enjoyment of related fiction, stuff like Tolkien, Charmed, Worst Witch, Buffy, lots of stuff that I'm sure you'll hate (John).
Then I decided to buy a book on the real thing, before the book arrived Iwent on holiday where I met a couple, a witch and a druid, and we ended up talking night after night all about the subject.
I still don't favour one path over any other, they all have useful stuff to learn, I suppose if you sorted my various beliefs into collumns, my love and attitude towards nature would make me more of a druid but as I say, I read and practise a wide variety of magickal stuffs.

Dont really know why I started, and tbh before Keele I was much more of a plain old norse pagan, though before that I was more interested in the occult. I have an open mind on the idea of magic and enjoy the ritual and spirituality of it, however I am not the greatest fan of using magick, I much prefer the Blot which is more akin to a church service than magick.

If you asked me that when I was a "beginner" I would've said because I've leant most thinks by my parents, my friends, my teachers, yet this was something I had to lead purely by myself and so it seemed like a fun idea to do something which I felt no one I had met was doing ('til I met you guys).

True enough, it is weird starting out on your own with this sort of thing, chances are you have never been taught anything about it before, but I think it probably strengthens your resolve once you get on your feet, because it's something you've had to work hard at.
